Notice to Competitors No 3

Type of Communication Information
Number:  5
Issued Date:  06 Dec 2021 14:21

As the organising authority of 2021 Sail Sydney Australian Sailing advises competitors and coaches that the following philosophies and methods will be used at the regatta:

  • There will be a daily briefing with the jury and coaches;
  • Competitors briefing may include an educational component
  • The jury may meet with competitors in the rigging area on a daily basis. This is primarily for educational purposes, and may include giving warnings on possible minor rule breaches.
  • The on-water jury may notify competitors that a rule breach was observed by making a sound signal (whistle). In this case competitors may consider whether taking a penalty at the time is appropriate, or to initiate a protest.
  • As a guide the jury may initiate a protest where there has been:
    • A blatant breach of a rule by a boat;
    • A boat gaining a significant advantage;
    • Damage or injury;
    • A breach of rule 2; or
    • Repeated minor breaches of a rule.
  • The application or non-application of these principles is not grounds for redress.

Any questions at the regattas can be directed to the jury. We wish competitors and coaches the best at the 2021 Sail Sydney.
