Friday Twilight Dinghy Racing

Question from Competitor - I am planning to participate in the Friday Night Twilight Dinghy Racing in an International Cadet, but at the moment I'm looking for a new crew. Is it possible to have different crews on different days if the skipper stays the same?

Replacement of Crew or Equipment

The Sailing Instructions are still being drafted, but the current version includes the following:

•          Substitution of competitors will not be allowed without prior written approval of the Race Committee.


•          Substitution of damaged or lost equipment will not be allowed unless authorised by the Race Committee. Requests for substitution shall be made to the committee at the first reasonable opportunity.


•          Where a boat sails a race with different crew that boat may be considered as new entry at the absolute discretion of the Race Committee.

In practise, this is meant to be relaxed racing so no-one is going to be fussed if you have different crews, so long as you're not chopping and changing to get an advantage ??  Just make sure that the RO is aware ahead of each race.

Main concern is safety - we want to know who is on the water, and what their emergency contacts are.
