- A fiberglass vessel was towing boats out and offered USA 52 a tow and he accepted.

- While being towed, the centreboard of USA 52 contacted rocks and there was damage to the centreboard.
- USA 52 sailed in races 4 and 5 but decided not to sail in race 6.
- USA 52 sailed back to the shore and then discovered the damage to his centreboard.
