Facts Found - The course to be sailed for race 1 of the Hansa 303 Two Person Dinghy was I2.
- During the first leg to mark 1, the wind shifted on each side of its course axis, but boats had to make more than one tack towards the mark.
- When the leading boats in the fleet were approaching the downwind gate (marks 4S/4P), the last few boats in the fleet had not rounded mark 1 for the first time.
- Throughout the rest of the race until the finish, although the wind was shifty, the relative positions of the fleet remained the same and did not invert.
- According to sailing instruction 13, original marks will be used should the race committee decide to change the next leg of the course.
- The race committee considered the options available to them and decided that the fairest option for all boats was to let the race continue.
