- Winds approximately 15 knots, seas with a slight chop.
- Approximately 1.5 minutes to the start.
- 3050 on starboard, head to wind, stopped on the start line.
- 3015 also on starboard sailed to leeward of 3050, approximately 500mm between the boats.
- Approximately 5 seconds after the overlap was established, 3050 drifted onto 3015 and contact occurred.

- 3050 as windward boat, did not keep clear of 3015 breaking RRS 11 and 14.
- 3015 as leeward boat did not avoid contact with 3050 but is exonerated under RRS14(b) as the contact did not cause damage or injury.
