Facts Found | - 10 seconds before the start, in 20 knots of wind, on the pre-start side of the starting line, boat 54 was on a slow, close-hauled, starboard tack.
- Boat 57 was on a starboard close-hauled tack on a collision course from astern of boat 54.
- Boat 57 luffed, causing contact between the front port hull of boat 57 and the starboard tiller of boat 54.
- Boat 54's starboard tiller was bent and the port tiller was broken after the collision.
