Hearing Details: Mark Missing |
Facts Found | - The RO set a course that included sailing from R2 to R3 to RBYC 5.
- R3 was missing from the course area.
- Reliance sailed past the anticipated position of R3 for approximately 0.6Nm sailing at 6 knots.
- Reliance radioed the RO to advise that R3 was missing and was advised to sail directly to RBYC 5, and all other boats to round the GPS position of R3.
- Thunder was approximately 300-400 metres astern of Reliance with Sun Kiss approximately 300-400 metres astern of Thunder when advised by the RO to sail to RBYC 5.
- All three boats gybed and proceeded to RBYC 5, sailing further than the distance from R3 to RBYC 5 and on progressively tighter reaching angles.
|
|
Conclusion | - The scores of Reliance, Thunder and Sun Kiss were made materially worse by the action of the RC through no fault of their own.
- Redress is granted to all three boats with the elapsed time of Reliance reduced by 12 minutes, Thunder by 8 minutes and Sun Kiss by 4 minutes.
