NOTICE TO COMPETITORS
CHANGE TO SCHEDULE AND PASSAGE RACE COURSE - CBA States 01/03/25

Unfortunately, our forecast for Saturday is looking lighter than we would like, with only a small chance of wind >5 knots prior to the seabreeze filling in early afternoon.

This leaves us in a difficult position re: the schedule, in particular the passage race over to queenscliff. We have decided that the best course of action is to motor over to queenscliff to join the queencliff fleet followed by a passage race home to Sorrento. We expect the wind to become more favourable later in the day which will aid the passage race home.

The First Warning Signal will therefore be changed to 1:30PM in Queenscliff . The first race of the day will now be a laid course, followed by the Passage Race back to Sorrento. There will not be a formal briefing on shore, but a briefing on water via radio VHF 73 and via WhatsApp. We will hold a bbq at the club alongside the presentation for the CBA states following the return to SSCBC.

Course for Passage Race
The race will be started off Queenscliff as soon as the first race has been completed, and only if the shipping channel is clear of any commercial shipping.
START - FINISH (There are no marks in between)
The Start will be between an orange start pin and a staff displaying an orange flag on the RC vessel
The Finish will be between the centre of the tower and X Mark, leaving Y mark to the South.

Crossing the Channel
[SP] All boats shall maintain clearance from the bow of any commercial ship in the South Channel of half a Nautical mile – the South Channel beacons pairs are approximately 1 Nautical Mile apart. A breach of this rule is a standard penalty of disqualification without a hearing.

Information about upcoming South Channel Shipping movements will be broadcast on VHF 73
