USA 1870 leeward, GER 278 overlapped and windard of USA 1870, 2 meters gage betwee boats

GER 278 capsized pitchpoling and made contact with USA 1870

Both boats retired 

Damage occured to USA 1870 as follows: Spinnaker pole broken, starboard hull 2 meter hole slice, mast bent, dager board trunk, wripped main sail 


Conclusion

 

GER 278 to windward did not keep clear of USA 1870 breaking RRS 11

GER 278 did not avoid contact with USA 1870 when it was reasonably possible to do so breaking RRS 14
