Facts Found

 

55160 presented their sign-on wrist band at the the reader in accordance with sailing instruction 19.4 and received a 'beep' in acknowledgement. However, the system did not record the transaction and the 'sign on' was not completed.

55160 received a boom sticker as part of the sign on process.

55160 raced and was given a standard penalty of 5 points in accordance with sailing instruction 19.6

Sailing instruction 19.4 does not specfy that it is necessary for competitors to check the computer screen in order to ensure that the transaction has been properly recorded.

 

 

 

 


Conclusion

 

The score of 55160 was made significantly worse due to the fact that the race committee instructions for 'sign on' omitted a key part of the process required to achieve a valid 'sign on'
